Message says, "Can't find history file" Most common solution is to check the name of the hard drive icon and rename it to a standard name such as Macintosh HD. This error message usually appears because the name of the Macintosh HD has been modified to include some "illegal" characters. Examples of illegal characters include, "/, *, and the dot or period ." A space is allowed within the name, for example, "Macintosh HD" has a space between the word Macintosh and the initial HD. We recently (January 12, 2005) discovered that a leading space is not permitted. A disk drive that has a name starting with a space will prevent the SuccessMaker program from finding the history file. This is a bit more difficult to troubleshoot because the blank space does not show on the screen. Click here for an Acrobat Reader file which discusses this symptom. |
